Can training at home be just as effective as it is in the gym?

Written by ladies personal trainer Justina Triasovaite.

In today's blog post we will ask Justina whether or not a personal training at home can be just as effective as training in the gym. Read what Justina has to say regarding this topic below.

The question still remains… Can it be just as effective as it is in the gym?

This is the question I hear the most. To be honest - there is no straight answer. It all depends on your goals, fitness level and space you have for training at home. However, in most cases I can say that home training can be just as effective training as training in the gym UNLESS you are advanced body builder or preparing for a competition or a tournament. Nevertheless, if you are not preparing for a competition or a tournament then we will need to use weights which you can find in gym. Alternatively, you can buy most of them online for a cheap price so it just depends on space you have at home.

Do clients need to buy any equipment before they start personal training?

My clients don't need to buy any equipment for at least 4 weeks of training. I have my bag with all the equipment needed. The equipment includes - TRX, resistance bands, boxing kit and a lot more. Later, if I and my client agree - other equipment can be involved as well. If a client will want to buy additional equipment I can always consult them where to get the equipment from. It's usually one set of dumbbells and a kettlebell.

How much space one needs for training at home?

For training at home you need the minimum length and width of yoga mat which is usually 2 m X 1 m. Having that in mind it's very little. However, the more space you have the better. As a personal trainer for home I'm training my clients in their living room, bedroom, hallway or even dining room. It really depends where you have the most space.

Could you give few training routines for people who would love to train at home?

Sure thing, here are few examples:

Legs workout at home:

  • 20x4 squats
  • 20x4 lunges
  • 20x4 side rises
  • 20x4 standing kick back
  • 20x4 bridges

Upper body routine at home:

  • 10x3 press-ups
  • 10x3 dips (using chair or low table)
  • 10x3 shoulder walk
  • 10x3 rowing (using resistance band or water bottles/weights)
  • 10x3 bicep curls (using resistance bands or water bottles/weighs)
  • 10x3 shoulders press (using resistance bands or water bottles/weighs)

Full body HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout at home:

  • 10x3 burpees
  • 20x3 jumping lunges
  • 1 minute of high knees
  • 20x3 jump squats
  • 1 minute of jumping jacks

Could you give few training routines for people who would love to train at home?

I would recommend a mixture of all. If the weather is suitable I would recommend outdoor training, being a female personal trainer in London I can say that knowing London’s weather you never know so it's good to have another option in hand. Indoor or outdoor, gym or home - everything works. As long as you are moving and getting closer to your goals whatever it is - fat loss, muscle gain, toning and conditioning or even mental health.

Just keep going! 🙂

Is it Worth Getting a Personal Trainer for One Month?

Written by ladies personal trainer Justina Triasovaite.

There are 3 types of clients for one month:

  • Advanced people who just need that extra kick to achieve their goals
  • Beginners who want to learn the basics and see if the training is for them
  • People who decides they can't continue for various reasons: money, laziness, quitting gym for good, can't keep up with appointments and etc.

In this article we ask Justina is it worth or not having a personal trainer only for one month.

In your own opinion - is it worth getting a personal trainer for one month?

It really depends on your goals and what type of personality you are. If you are already advanced and need that extra kick – then it is really a great boost because with personal trainer’s advanced techniques you can lose that extra 1% of fat or add an inch to your biceps. Therefore I would say it's totally worth it.

In addition to this - I have a special one month plan customized for people who can afford only one month training. It includes 12 sessions over 4 weeks:

  • First week includes adaptation phase and basic movement screening.
  • Week 2-3 is for adopting new movement as well as learning techniques for achieving their desirable goals.
  • Final week is putting everything together and creating a plan for the next 6-8 weeks.

What is the minimum number of personal training sessions you would recommend for one month?

It really depends on clients and their goals. For advanced clients I would recommend:

  • Week 1 – to have 3 sessions
  • Week 2 – to have 2 sessions
  • Week 3 – to have 2 sessions
  • Week 4 – to have 3 sessions

Again it might vary depending on goals. 10 sessions for advanced person is usually divided in few sections: First - getting to know clients body.
Second - screening what can be done to achieve their goals, working towards goals and creating reasonable plan for maintaining the goal or doing more work towards it.

As I mentioned before for the very beginner it would be minimum 3 times a week. The reason for it is that it's the easiest way to get in to training. Getting to know your body is very important. Only by intense training can you start to understand how your body is moving and what needs to be improved.

Do you prefer long or short term clients?

I do have a set number of regular clients who are already with me for over 3 years. Some of them since my career start. That is quite amazing; we have very good relationship and very personal training sessions. I also have a set number of people who are coming and leaving. That is quite great too because every new person means new challenge, new body, new experience for me. Personal training is all about helping people achieving their goals and I love doing that whether it’s for one month or 10 years - I will do my best!

What results can one expect after one month of intense personal training?

After one month of personal training you will become:

  • Fitter
  • Stronger
  • Leaner
  • Better looking

You will be able to:

  • Plan your workouts
  • Correctly perform exercises
  • Understand more about anatomy and over all training
  • Use different equipment in a right way
  • You will have much more knowledge about nutrition

Having named all the benefits of personal training even for one month I must ask you one question:
What Are You Waiting For?

I Can Be Your Personal Trainer in London City

Written by ladies personal trainer Justina Triasovaite.

Let Justina be your personal trainer in the City of London. With Justina’s training you can train 1) in a gym, 2) at the park and 3) in your home. Justina is dedicated and extremely professional when it comes to your personal training. For plans & packages please check this link.

In this article we ask Justina the advantages of training in the City of London.

Why should people consider you as their best personal trainer in the City of London?

I am the best lady personal trainer for you in the City of London if you are looking for:

  • A woman personal trainer;
  • A fun and friendly personal trainer;
  • A professional and dedicated personal trainer;
  • Creative workouts;
  • Flexible training schedule.

When thinking of the City of London, all you can imagine is national rail station and lots of offices. How big is fitness industry in this area?

It’s all about fitness and being active in here! The City of London is located on the east side of London. You can easily reach this area by the short walk from the West End of London or the South Bank.

There are lots of offices here and the area is now becoming very trendy and hipster. Also, there are lots of great restaurants and bars which are always crowded, especially during the lunch time and after 5 pm.

People in the City of London enjoy training with a personal trainer as they want their training sessions to be quick and efficient, allowing them to proceed with their busy day as soon as possible.

Are there any good outdoor training places in the City of London?

The City of London is not a very green place, yet there are little green spots perfect for private training, such as Finsbury Square. Also, there is always space for running in the City of London. Just one tip – schedule running very early in the morning as the streets will get very busy with pedestrians and cars afterwards.

If there are not many green places in the City of London, where do people train?

Personal training is very big in the City of London: office workers often feel a lot of back pain which makes them find time for fitness regularly and they usually prefer professional help.

More and more office buildings now have gyms where people can train before / after work, also there are a lot of gyms and private fitness studios around the area. Those who prefer fresh air and training outdoors, tend to find a training space in their home gardens.

The City of London is full of restaurants and take-away places. Does it affect people you train?

I will be honest – training is not enough if you want to see great results, you have to consider healthy nutrition as well. If you can, always cook food yourself – I strongly encourage people to cook at home as homemade food is the best for you.

If you are too busy, choose wisely where to eat – there are so many great places in the City of London! I always explore the area in advance and try to find the healthiest and most affordable options for my clients.

What time, according to you, is the best to train in the City of London?

As a professional personal trainer, I love training my clients in the morning. As people are so busy in this area, they usually try to squeeze in their workouts before work, after work or even during the lunch hour.

The main problem with City of London clients – they tend to change offices often (they may even transfer to a different city). Even though it is a bit difficult to train this way, I am flexible with places and training schedules.

How would you describe current training trends in the city of London?

People in the City of London tend to train all year long. The most frequent training goals and choices of workouts are: fat loss, toning and conditioning, posture correction and abdominal workout. Muscle gaining is not a big trend in the City of London.

Are there any neighbourhood areas that you would recommend to train in?

If you want to be surrounded by nature while you train, I would recommend Shoreditch, Bethnal Green and Southwark areas which all have fantastic outdoor spaces to train in.

As you probably know, London has amazing public transport links which make it very easy to reach almost any destination. This is why I can easily join you anywhere you would like to train.
